Would you rather stick a pencil in your eye rather than sit down and try to write a quality article? For most of us, writing articles is a tedious and unpleasant time consuming affair. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Here is a way to crank out your articles quickly and easily.
There are several elements that make up a great article and those include a great headline, the opening sentence, the 3-5 points you want to make about your subject, your summary paragraph and your resource box where you get to pitch your product or service.
Let’s look at the headline for the article. This is the most important part of the article because this is what draws the reader to your article in the first place.
Choose an attention getting head-line.
How to...........in.........steps
How to..........in............(time frame)
The real secret to quickly..................
Top 2 ways to...........
The hidden cost of....................
Determine 3-5 points of interest for the subject of your article. If you are writing an article about dog training, what are your 3-5 main points you want your readers to know?
You’ll want your article to be 500-750 words, so write 3-5 sections that are about 100 words each along with an opening and a closing.
Write an interesting opening sentence. There are several ways you can open a sentence.
Ask a question
Reveal something startling
Inject emotion
Present a problem
Close with a call to action. This is your summary paragraph.
Your mission is to get them to move to some desired action. What you want to do is lead the reader to your resource box.
You do this by bridging the gap between your article and your resource box-you create a transition between the two.
In your article conclusion, you’ll summarize the 3-5 points you made in the article. Your resource box should reference something related to those 3-5 points.
Okay. So now you know how to outline and format a great article. Here is a fantastic tip on how to write an article more quickly and easily.
It’s called the five minute technique. This where you give your self five minutes to work on your article. Instead of sitting down and writing the entire article in one long and laborious session, you break it up into five minute increments.
This is also a great way to overcome procrastination. Since it’s only five minutes as opposed to thirty minutes or even an hour, you are more likely to jump right in and see how much work you can get done in five minutes.
After five minutes, stop and go do something. Watch tv, listen to music or whatever. Then come right back and do another five minute session. Before long the article is complete and you are on cloud nine.
It helps to do this with a timer or stop watch.
So, there you have it. You can really crank out articles quickly and easily by first creating a simple outline and then using the five minute technique.
